Self Defence for Women

Ladies Self Defence taught by professional male and female instructors

Arakan Martial Art® is passionate about helping ladies become more empowered and confident.
We teach you fast and effective self-defence techniques that will keep you and your loved ones safe.

You will learn to move your body in very dynamic ways and use your opponent’s size and energy against them - meaning you do not need size or brute strength to be able to protect yourself effectively. By developing a greater understanding of body weight, momentum and moving with the path of least resistance, you will learn to produce flowing movements that are precise, powerful, and speedy - a distinct advantage against an attacker who may be perceivably bigger and stronger than you.

Our goal for you to achieve at training Arakan Martial Art® is some of the following:

  • increase situational and environmental awareness
  • learn practical and effective self-defence skills
  • gain self-confidence, empowerment, focus and awareness
  • learn skills and techniques to ensure the safety and wellbeing of yourself and loved ones
  • learn skills to remain calm in heightened situations
  • learn to diffuse and divert a potential situation
  • learn to effectively and efficiently control any situation should it escalate
  • increase your health and fitness
  • learn to manage stressful situations and levels
  • improve mental focus and concentration
  • gain a greater understanding of body mechanics
  • improve hand eye coordination and speed
  • increase self-motivation and self-discipline

Don’t just take our word for it though! Listen to what some of our female members say.

Our Instructors

If you’re looking for a female instructor, we have full time female instructors in most locations.
You can choose if you prefer to train with a male or female instructor.

I started training Arakan last year at a very difficult period in my life & it‘s supporting me on my healing journey - physically, mentally, & emotionally. I’m even training with a ‘frozen’ shoulder! Abi is an amazing trainer, a wonderful mix of strength and compassionate attunement, giving me that push I need. Everything about Arakan just feels right, from the art itself, to it’s culture & members. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

But when it comes to real-world self-defence, where there are no rules and anything can happen, you need something more practical, something designed for the street rather than the ring.

That’s where Arakan Martial Art comes in.
